Product Information

Calcitriol is a hydroxycalciol derived from calcidiol, where the pro-S hydrogen is replaced by a hydroxy group. It is the active form of vitamin D3, formed in the liver from calciol via hydroxylation to produce calcidiol, which is then oxidized in the kidney to yield calcitriol. It functions as a bone density conservation agent, antipsoriatic, immunomodulator, antineoplastic agent, calcium channel modulator, nutraceutical, calcium channel agonist, metabolite, hormone, human metabolite, and mouse metabolite. It is a hydroxycalciol, a member of D3 vitamins, and a triol.
