Retaspimycin is a semi-synthetic ansamycin derivative of geldanamycin, in which the benzoquinone group is reduced to a hydroquinone. It is used as the hydrochloride salt in cancer treatment and functions as an Hsp90 inhibitor and antineoplastic agent. It belongs to hydroquinones, organic heterobicyclic compounds, secondary amino compounds, semisynthetic derivatives, and carbamate esters. It is functionally related to geldanamycin and is the conjugate base of retaspimycin(1+).
