Varlitinib is a quinazoline derivative substituted at positions 4 and 6 with 3-chloro-4-[(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)methoxy]phenylamino and (4R)-4-methyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-ylamino groups, respectively. It is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting ErbB-2 (Her-2/neu) and EGFR, exhibiting significant anti-tumour activity in preclinical models of human breast, lung, and epidermal carcinomas. It functions as an EC 2.7.10.1 (receptor protein-tyrosine kinase) inhibitor, antineoplastic agent, apoptosis inducer, and epidermal growth factor receptor antagonist. It belongs to the classes of 1,3-thiazoles, monochlorobenzenes, aromatic ethers, substituted anilines, quinazolines, secondary amino compounds, and oxazolines.
