Clocortolone is 16alpha-methylpregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione with hydroxy groups at positions 11beta and 21, a fluorine at position 6, and a chlorine at position 9. It is a medium potency corticosteroid used as its 21-O-pivalate or caproate ester for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic skin disorders. It functions as an anti-inflammatory and antipruritic drug, and is classified as a glucocorticoid, 11beta-hydroxy steroid, 21-hydroxy steroid, 20-oxo steroid, fluorinated steroid, 3-oxo-Delta(1),Delta(4)-steroid, chlorinated steroid, and primary alpha-hydroxy ketone.
