Product Information

Fluorometholone is a glucocorticoid belonging to the Delta(1)-progesterone class, substituted at positions 11beta and 17 with hydroxy groups, at position 6alpha with a methyl group, and at position 9 with a fluoro group. It is used to treat corticosteroid-responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe. It functions as an anti-inflammatory drug and is a fluorinated steroid, 11beta-hydroxy steroid, 20-oxo steroid, 3-oxo-Delta(1),Delta(4)-steroid, glucocorticoid, 17alpha-hydroxy steroid, and tertiary alpha-hydroxy ketone. It is functionally related to Delta(1)-progesterone.
