It inhibits thymidylate synthase (TS), dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), and glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GARFT), acting as an antimetabolite and antineoplastic agent. It functions as an inhibitor of EC 1.5.1.3 (DHFR), EC 2.1.1.45 (TS), and EC 2.1.2.2 (phosphoribosylglycinamide formyltransferase).
