Product Information

Memantine is a primary aliphatic amine and a member of the adamantane family, specifically the 3,5-dimethyl derivative of 1-aminoadamantane. It is a low to moderate affinity, uncompetitive (open-channel) NMDA receptor antagonist that preferentially binds to NMDA receptor-operated cation channels. It functions as a dopaminergic agent, antiparkinson drug, neuroprotective agent, and antidepressant. It is the conjugate base of memantinium(1+), derived from an adamantane hydride.
