Product Information

Zapotin (5,6,2',6'-tetramethoxyflavone) is a naturally occurring polymethoxyflavone isolated primarily from Casimiroa edulis. Pharmacologically, it is highly regarded for its potential as a chemopreventive and therapeutic agent. In vitro studies demonstrate that zapotin exhibits potent antineoplastic activity by inhibiting cellular proliferation and inducing apoptosis across several human carcinoma cell lines, notably colon cancer and leukemia. Furthermore, preclinical evaluations indicate a broader spectrum of bioactivity, including significant antioxidant, fungistatic, and putative antidepressant-like properties, identifying it as a promising lead compound for subsequent pharmacological development.
