Ramipril is a dipeptide and ethyl ester prodrug that is converted to the active metabolite ramiprilat via hydrolysis of the ethyl ester group. It is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure.
