Cefminox is a second-generation cephamycin antibiotic with [(1-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)sulfanyl]methyl at position 3 and 2-{[(2S)-2-amino-2-carboxyethyl]sulfanyl}acetamido at position 7beta of the cephem nucleus. It is a broad-spectrum bactericide, particularly effective against Gram-negative and anaerobic bacteria. It is a cephamycin and a tetrazole-containing compound. It is the conjugate acid of cefminox(1-).
