Product Information

Ofloxacin is a racemate consisting of equimolar amounts of levofloxacin and dextrofloxacin. It is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase supercoiling activity, thereby halting DNA replication. It functions as a DNA synthesis inhibitor, antiinfective agent, antibacterial drug, EC 5.99.1.3 [DNA topoisomerase (ATP-hydrolysing)] inhibitor, and topoisomerase IV inhibitor. It is a quinolone antibiotic and a fluoroquinone antibiotic.
