Product Information

Tanespimycin is a 19-membered macrocycle derived from geldanamycin, where the methoxy group on the benzoquinone moiety is replaced by an allylamino group. It is a potent Hsp90 inhibitor, less toxic than geldanamycin, and induces apoptosis with antitumour activity. It functions as an antineoplastic agent, Hsp90 inhibitor, and apoptosis inducer. Chemically, it is a secondary amino compound, ansamycin, carbamate ester, organic heterobicyclic compound, and member of 1,4-benzoquinones. It is functionally related to geldanamycin.
