Ecothiopate is the phosphorothioate formed by the formal condensation of diethyl phosphate with N,N,N-trimethyl-2-sulfanylethanaminium. It is an irreversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, with its iodide salt used as an ocular antihypertensive for open-angle glaucoma, particularly when other treatments have failed.
