Ecothiopate iodide is the iodide salt of ecothiopate. It is an irreversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used as an ocular antihypertensive for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma, particularly when other drugs have failed. It functions as an antiglaucoma drug, an EC 3.1.1.8 cholinesterase inhibitor, and a miotic. It is a quaternary ammonium salt and contains ecothiopate.
