Tafamidis is a 1,3-benzoxazole derivative in which the hydrogen at position 2 is replaced by a 3,5-dichlorophenyl group, resulting in 1,3-benzoxazole-6-carboxylic acid. It is used as its meglumine salt to treat transthyretin-related hereditary amyloidosis. It functions as a central nervous system drug and belongs to the classes of 1,3-benzoxazoles, monocarboxylic acids, and dichlorobenzenes. It is also the conjugate acid of tafamidis(1-).
