Arasertaconazole is the active R-enantiomer of sertaconazole, used as its nitrate salt to treat vulvovaginal candidiasis. The racemate is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug. It functions as an antibacterial, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, sterol 14α-demethylase inhibitor, and antipruritic agent. It is a conazole and imidazole antifungal drug with the structure 1-{2-[(7-chloro-1-benzothiophen-3-yl)methoxy]-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl}imidazole. It is the enantiomer of (S)-sertaconazole and the conjugate base of arasertaconazole(1+).
