Mollugin

Rubimaillin is a benzochromene compound with the structure of 2H-benzo[h]chromene substituted by two methyl groups at position 2, a methoxycarbonyl group at position 5, and a hydroxy group at position 6. Found in the Chinese medicinal plant Rubia cordifolia, it inhibits TNF-alpha-induced NF-kappaB activation, exhibiting anti-cancer properties. It is a dual inhibitor of ACAT1 and ACAT2, with greater selectivity for ACAT2. Rubimaillin functions as a plant metabolite, ACAT2 inhibitor, NF-kappaB inhibitor, antineoplastic agent, apoptosis inducer, neuroprotective agent, and anti-inflammatory agent. It is classified as a benzochromene, methyl ester, and phenol.
