Product Information

Tiamulin is a carbotricyclic compound and a semisynthetic derivative of pleuromutilin, in which the hydroxyacetate group is replaced by a 2-{[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]sulfanyl}acetate group. It is an antibacterial drug used in veterinary medicine, typically as its hydrogen fumarate salt, for treating swine dysentery caused by Serpulina hyodysenteriae. It has roles as a carboxylic ester, cyclic ketone, tertiary amino compound, secondary alcohol, organic sulfide, tetracyclic diterpenoid, and is functionally related to pleuromutilin.
