Nemadipine-A is a dihydropyridine, specifically a 1,4-dihydropyridine substituted at positions 2 and 6 with methyl groups, at positions 3 and 5 with ethoxycarbonyl groups, and at position 4 with a pentafluorophenyl group. It is an L-type calcium channel alpha1-subunit antagonist and acts as a calcium channel blocker. Exposure to Caenorhabditis elegans causes morphological and egg-laying defects. It is a diester, a member of pentafluorobenzenes, an ethyl ester, and a dicarboxylic acid with O-substituted derivatives.
