Flecainide is a monocarboxylic acid amide formed by the formal condensation of the carboxy group of 2,5-bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)benzoic acid with the primary amino group of piperidin-2-ylmethylamine. It is an antiarrhythmic agent, used as its acetate salt to prevent and treat tachyarrhythmia. It functions as an anti-arrhythmia drug, and is a member of piperidines, organofluorine compounds, and aromatic ethers. It is the conjugate base of flecainide(1+).
