Ginsenoside F1 is a ginsenoside found in Panax species, a dammarane-type triterpenoid substituted with hydroxy groups at the 3beta, 6alpha, 12beta, and 20 pro-S positions. The hydroxy group at position 20 is converted to beta-D-glucopyranoside, and a double bond is introduced at the 24-25 position. It functions as a plant metabolite and apoptosis inhibitor. It is classified as a 12beta-hydroxy steroid, 3beta-hydroxy steroid, beta-D-glucoside, ginsenoside, tetracyclic triterpenoid, 6alpha-hydroxy steroid, and 3beta-hydroxy-4,4-dimethylsteroid. It derives from a dammarane hydride.
