Product Information

Emetine is a pyridoisoquinoline alkaloid with methoxy substituents at the 6'-, 7'-, 10-, and 11-positions. It functions as an antiprotozoal agent, emetic, antiviral, antimalarial, antineoplastic, antiamoebic, and autophagy inhibitor. It inhibits SARS-CoV-2, Zika, and Ebola virus replication. It is also an antiinfective agent, expectorant, anticoronaviral agent, and protein synthesis inhibitor. Emetine is a conjugate base of emetine(2+), derived from a hydride of emetan, and is functionally related to cephaeline.
