Product Information

Crocin-1 is a diester formed by converting both carboxy groups of crocetin to gentiobiosyl esters. It is a water-soluble yellow-red pigment found in saffron, used as a food spice for flavouring and colouring. It functions as an antioxidant, food colouring, plant metabolite, and histological dye. It is a diester, disaccharide derivative, and diterpenoid, related to beta-D-gentiobiosyl crocetin and gentiobiose. Note that in India, 'Crocin' is also a brand name for paracetamol by GlaxoSmithKline.
