Product Information

Sulindac is a monocarboxylic acid and sulfoxide, specifically 1-benzylidene-1H-indene substituted at positions 2, 3, and 5 with methyl, carboxymethyl, and fluorine groups, respectively. The benzylidene phenyl ring has a methylsulfinyl group at the para position. It functions as a prodrug for its corresponding sulfide, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in treating acute and chronic inflammatory conditions. It acts as an EC 1.14.99.1 inhibitor, an antineoplastic agent, a non-narcotic analgesic, an antipyretic, a tocolytic agent, and an apoptosis inducer. It is also classified as an organofluorine compound and is functionally related to acetic acid.
