Ipriflavone is a synthetic isoflavone in which the hydrogen at position 7 is replaced by an isopropoxy group. It was previously used for osteoporosis treatment but showed no benefit in a randomized controlled study. It is still used to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. It functions as a bone density conservation agent and belongs to the class of isoflavones and aromatic ethers.
