Thiencarbazone-methyl

Thiencarbazone-methyl is an N-sulfonylurea herbicide containing a sulfur atom linked to a 4-(methoxycarbonyl)-2-methylthiophen-3-yl group and a non-sulfonated nitrogen substituted with a 3-methoxy-4-methyl-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl group. It selectively controls grasses and broadleaf weeds, primarily in corn, by inhibiting acetolactate synthase (EC 2.2.1.6). It belongs to the classes of thiophenes, methyl esters, triazoles, N-sulfonylureas, and ethers, and is functionally related to thiencarbazone.
