Product Information

Novobiocin is a coumarin-derived antibiotic from *Streptomyces niveus*. It functions as an antibacterial and antimicrobial agent, inhibiting DNA topoisomerase (ATP-hydrolysing), and is also an Escherichia coli metabolite and hepatoprotective agent. Chemically, it is a hexoside, monocarboxylic acid amide, monosaccharide derivative, hydroxycoumarin, ether, carbamate ester, and phenol. It is the conjugate acid of novobiocin(1-).
