All-trans-retinoic acid is a retinoic acid with all four exocyclic double bonds in E- (trans-) configuration. It functions as a keratolytic drug, antineoplastic agent, antioxidant, signalling molecule, retinoid X receptor agonist, anti-inflammatory agent, AP-1 antagonist, retinoic acid receptor agonist, and human metabolite. It is a retinoic acid and a vitamin A, and serves as the conjugate acid of all-trans-retinoate.
