Bendazac is a monocarboxylic acid derived from glycolic acid, with the hydrogen of the 2-hydroxy group replaced by a 1-benzyl-1H-indazol-3-yl group. It exhibits anti-inflammatory, antinecrotic, choleretic, and antilipidaemic properties, and is used in treating inflammatory skin disorders. Its primary function is inhibiting protein denaturation. The lysine salt is used in cataract management. It acts as a radical scavenger and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and is classified as an indazole and a monocarboxylic acid.
