Gefitinib is a quinazoline derivative substituted with a (3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)nitrilo group at position 4, a 3-(morpholin-4-yl)propoxy group at position 6, and a methoxy group at position 7. It is an EGFR kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Gefitinib functions as an epidermal growth factor receptor antagonist and antineoplastic agent. It is an aromatic ether, a member of monochlorobenzenes, monofluorobenzenes, secondary and tertiary amino compounds, quinazolines, and morpholines.
