Clonixin is a pyridinemonocarboxylic acid with a (2-methyl-3-chlorophenyl)amino group at position 2 of nicotinic acid. It is used as its lysine salt for treating renal colic, muscular pain, and moderately severe migraine attacks. It functions as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, non-narcotic analgesic, antipyretic, platelet aggregation inhibitor, vasodilator, inhibitor of prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase (EC 1.14.99.1), and lipoxygenase. It is a pyridinemonocarboxylic acid, aminopyridine, and organochlorine compound, and is functionally related to nicotinic acid. It is the conjugate acid of clonixin(1-).
