Iptacopan is an indole derivative substituted at positions 4, 5, and 6 with [(2S,4S)-2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4-ethoxypiperidin-1-yl]methyl, methoxy, and methyl groups, respectively. It is a potent inhibitor of complement factor B (IC50 = 10 nM) with potential immunomodulatory activity. It functions as a complement factor B inhibitor and immunomodulator. It belongs to the classes of benzoic acids, piperidines, ethers, indoles, diethers, monocarboxylic acids, and tertiary amino compounds. It is the conjugate base of iptacopan(1+).
