Product Information

Tenofovir (anhydrous) is a phosphonic acid derivative in which a methyl hydrogen in methylphosphonic acid is replaced by a [(2R)-1-(6-amino-9H-purin-9-yl)propan-2-yl]oxy group. It is an HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor, available as the bis(isopropyloxycarbonyloxymethyl) ester (disoproxil ester) prodrug, used as the fumaric acid salt in HIV combination therapy. It functions as an antiviral drug and nucleoside analogue, and is a conjugate acid of tenofovir(1-).
