Pralatrexate is a pteridine derivative of L-glutamic acid, specifically the N-4-[1-(2,4-diaminopteridin-6-yl)pent-4-yn-2-yl]benzoyl form. It is used to treat peripheral T-cell lymphoma, an aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It functions as an antineoplastic agent, antimetabolite, and inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase (EC 1.5.1.3). It is also a N-acyl-L-glutamic acid, a pteridine, and a terminal acetylenic compound.
