Product Information

Diethyl maleate is a colorless liquid at room temperature (mp -10°C), boiling at 220°C under 1 atm. It is a maleate ester formed by the condensation of both carboxy groups of maleic acid with ethanol. Commonly used as a dienophile in Diels-Alder cycloaddition reactions, it also functions as a glutathione depleting agent. It is an ethyl ester and functionally related to ethanol.
