Product Information

6-Aminohexanoic acid is an epsilon-amino acid derived from hexanoic acid with an amino group at the C-6 position. It functions as an antifibrinolytic drug, hematologic agent, and metabolite, used to control postoperative bleeding and counteract overdose effects of thrombolytics such as streptokinase and tissue plasminogen activator. It is also classified as an omega-amino fatty acid and is functionally related to hexanoic acid. It is the conjugate acid of 6-aminohexanoate and a tautomer of the 6-aminohexanoic acid zwitterion.
