Product Information

Hydroxyurea is a urea derivative in which one hydrogen is replaced by a hydroxy group. It is an antineoplastic agent used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukaemia and sickle-cell disease. It functions as a DNA synthesis inhibitor, an EC 1.17.4.1 (ribonucleoside-diphosphate reductase) inhibitor, a genotoxin, an antimetabolite, a teratogenic agent, a radical scavenger, an immunomodulator, and an antimitotic. It belongs to the class of ureas and is a one-carbon compound.
