Remikiren is an L-histidine derivative in which one amino hydrogen is replaced by a (2S)-2-[(2-methylpropane-2-sulfonyl)methyl]-3-phenylpropanoyl group, and the carboxy group is replaced by a [(2S,3R,4S)-1-cyclohexyl-4-cyclopropyl-3,4-dihydroxybutan-2-yl]amino group. It is a renin inhibitor under development for hypertension (now discontinued), acting as an antihypertensive, vasodilator, peptidomimetic, and EC 3.4.23.15 inhibitor. It is classified as a sulfone, diol, secondary carboxamide, cyclopropane, and L-histidine derivative.
