Product Information

Esomeprazole is a 5-methoxy-2-{[(4-methoxy-3,5-dimethylpyridin-2-yl)methyl]sulfinyl}-1H-benzimidazole with S configuration at the sulfur atom. It is a gastric acid secretion inhibitor, typically used as its sodium or magnesium salt, for treating gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It functions as a histamine antagonist, an H(+)/K(+)-exchanging ATPase inhibitor, an anti-ulcer drug, and a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. It is the conjugate acid of esomeprazole(1-) and the enantiomer of (R)-omeprazole.
