Glyburide is an N-sulfonylurea derived from acetohexamide, with the acetyl group replaced by a 2-(5-chloro-2-methoxybenzamido)ethyl group. It functions as a hypoglycemic agent, an anti-arrhythmia drug, and inhibitors of EC 2.7.1.33 (pantothenate kinase) and EC 3.6.3.49 (channel-conductance-controlling ATPase). It is also a member of monochlorobenzenes.
