Product Information

Bromfenac is amfenac with the hydrogen at the 4-position of the benzoyl group replaced by bromine. It is used for managing ocular pain and treating postoperative inflammation after cataract surgery. Withdrawn from the US market in 1998 due to concerns over off-label abuse and hepatic failure, it functions as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and non-narcotic analgesic. It belongs to benzophenones, substituted anilines, aromatic amino acids, and organobromine compounds. It is functionally related to amfenac and is the conjugate acid of bromfenac(1-).
