Product Information

Chlorimuron-ethyl is an ethyl ester formed by the formal condensation of the carboxy group of chlorimuron with ethanol. It functions as a proherbicide for chlorimuron, used to control broad-leaved weeds in crops such as peanuts and soya beans. It acts as an EC 2.2.1.6 (acetolactate synthase) inhibitor and is classified as an agrochemical. It is a sulfamoylbenzoate, an N-sulfonylurea, an aromatic ether, an ethyl ester, an organochlorine pesticide, and a pyrimidine derivative. It is functionally related to chlorimuron and is the conjugate acid of chlorimuron-ethyl(1-).
