Beraprost is an organic heterotricyclic compound with the structure (3aS,8bS)-2,3,3a,8b-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[b]cyclopenta[d]furan, where hydrogens at positions 1R, 2R, and 5 are replaced by (3S)-3-hydroxy-4-methyloct-1-en-6-yn-1-yl, hydroxy, and 3-carboxypropyl groups, respectively. It is a prostaglandin receptor agonist approved for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension in Asia. It functions as a vasodilator, platelet aggregation inhibitor, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory agent, and is classified as a monocarboxylic acid, secondary alcohol, secondary allylic alcohol, enyne, and conjugate acid of beraprost(1-).
