Serdemetan

Serdemetan is an orally bioavailable HDM2 antagonist with potential antineoplastic activity. It inhibits the binding of HDM2 to the transcriptional activation domain of p53, preventing proteasome-mediated degradation of p53 and restoring p53 signaling, which may induce tumor cell apoptosis. HDM2, a zinc finger protein and negative regulator of the p53 pathway, is often overexpressed in cancer cells and is implicated in cancer cell proliferation and survival.
