Ritanserin is a thiazolopyrimidine, specifically 5H-[1,3]thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one, substituted at position 7 with a methyl group and at position 6 with a 2-{4-[bis(4-fluorophenyl)methylidene]piperidin-1-yl}ethyl group. It is a potent and long-acting 5-HT2 serotonin antagonist (Ki = 0.39 nM) used in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.
