Product Information

Sertraline is a tetralin derivative substituted at positions 1 and 4 with a methylamino group and a 3,4-dichlorophenyl group, respectively (the S,S diastereoisomer). It is a selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) administered orally as the hydrochloride salt. Used as an antidepressant for treating depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder, it is also a secondary amino compound, a dichlorobenzene, and a conjugate base of sertraline(1+). It derives from a tetralin hydride.
