Ketanserin is a quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione substituted at position 3 with a 2-[4-(p-fluorobenzoyl)piperidin-1-yl]ethyl group. It functions as an alpha-adrenergic antagonist, serotonergic antagonist, antihypertensive agent, cardiovascular drug, and inhibitor of EC 3.4.21.26 (prolyl oligopeptidase). It belongs to the classes of quinazolines, piperidines, organofluorine compounds, and aromatic ketones. It is the conjugate base of ketanserin(1+).
