Miglustat is a hydroxypiperidine and deoxynojirimycin with a butyl group replacing the amino hydrogen. It functions as an EC 2.4.1.80 (ceramide glucosyltransferase) inhibitor and an anti-HIV agent. It is a piperidine and tertiary amino compound, functionally related to duvoglustat.
