Plinabulin is a 2,5-diketopiperazine with benzylidene and (5-tert-butyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methylidene substituents at positions 3 and 6, respectively. It functions as a vascular disrupting agent and microtubule destabilizing agent. Previously in clinical trials for non-small cell lung cancer (now discontinued), it acts as an antineoplastic agent, apoptosis inducer, and angiogenesis inhibitor. It belongs to the classes of 2,5-diketopiperazines, imidazoles, benzenes, and olefinic compounds.
