Oxyphenbutazone hydrate is a hydrate formed by combining oxyphenbutazone with one molar equivalent of water. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with arthritis and gout. It was withdrawn from the market in 1984 due to associations with blood dyscrasis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. It also functions as a non-narcotic analgesic, gout suppressant, antipyretic, antimicrobial agent, and antineoplastic agent.
